SINGAPORE

At first glance, Singapore gleams with modernism and commercialism, making it appear more Western than Eastern. But an eclectic mix of cultures and religions, ancient treasures and British colonial impressions actually make up the unique Singaporean identity. A visit to this melting pot will treat you to the familiar and the exotic: world-famous skyscrapers, hotels and brand names co-existing with quaint ethnic areas, their idiosyncrasies and unusual flavours. Of course, while Singapore may be considered one of the world’s successful economies, the budget traveller can find as much to enjoy here as would the international jetsetter.
